into a therapeutic tool as widespread reports claim that it is now being used in rehabilitation centres. Victims of stroke, spinal cord injuries and others have been benefiting from the Wii Sports games to help them recover and regain balance, co-ordination, strength and motion. In addition to traditional methods of exercising patients back to health, the Wii has proven to make the rehabilitation process more enjoyable and engaging, thus alleviating some of the monotony and boredom of the recovery process.

One patient, an ex boxer, now plays virtual boxing since he suffered a stroke after a blow to the head during a match that left him in a wheelchair with little movement in his left arm and slower speech. The Wii sports games have helped him and others like him progress from their wheelchairs to being able to stand up and swing a virtual golf club, throw a virtual bowling ball and knock out a virtual opponent in the Wii boxing game.

Another man, a semi-pro tennis player who had also suffered a stroke has been using the Wii console to play the virtual tennis game and claims that the Wii has enabled him to regain his balance and the use of his arms.

Senior citizens in nursing homes are even using the Wii console for entertainment purposes which also helps to keep their bodies active and their minds sharp as well as speeding up reactions. An 82 year old lady who used to have fun playing tennis at school as a young girl, challenged the Wii to a game of tennis and said that it reminded her of the feeling she had years ago.

It is also reported that American soldiers have embraced the technology of the Wii, testing it out on injured soldiers to help them regain their strength.

The fact that the Nintendo Wii console has been used so effectively for medical purposes would suggest that this kind of technology could be developed further to aid physical therapy in the future.

Unlike other video games consoles, which have had some bad publicity regarding the lack of activity of the children playing them, the Nintendo Wii has had a much more positive response. Gameplay encourages not only activity but also socialisation amongst friends and family members.

Video games consoles have never attracted such a wide and diverse audience as the Nintendo Wii console. The appeal of this new innovative console offers more than just gameplay. Nintendo’s brilliant use of technology is getting great praise for getting people moving again from young children to senior citizens and rehabilitation patients – the success stories never cease to amaze us.

Source: Articlerich.com

Xbox 360 Takes Gaming Moves Miles Ahead

The second video game console from Microsoft was developed in association with IBM, ATI and SiS. Perhaps you haven't played all of the top 5 games of this newest product of Nintendo. For Wii aficionados and for those who are simply looking for new exciting games to play in, here are some of the best Wii picks for you:

Talk about the Legend of Zelda

Think of Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons combined. This is how the new and possibly the biggest videogame console to date is like. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess talks about the never-ending adventures of Link and Princess Zelda against Ganondorf. The Wii consol game will allow you to discover the brand-new ability of Link, which is to transform himself into a wolf. The Wii console is so much perfect for the game, considering that you need maximum flexibility as well as preciseness when it comes to using the bows, arrows, and swords. To make the game even more exciting, Wii provides a 16:19 display option for its wide screen a totally new level of playing experience.

Goin' Bananas

The Banana Blitz is the newest installment of Super Monkey Ball and is specifically created for Wii consoles. This is the most ideal game for those who are trying to test the waters of Wii consoles. Banana Blitz features 50 mini-games and 100 brand-new mazes, which are very much easy to play around. Moreover, working on your Banana Blitz is actually no-brainer. With a simple forward-and-backward motion, you can already see those monkeys rolling around the various puzzle games. So if you like to go loco over those scheming primates, then settle for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.

Get Yourself in the Trauma Center

Christmas doesn't have to be everything nice, but then again, you can still have so much fun, especially when you're in Trauma Center. You're basically back to the world of Dr. Stiles and his great mission of saving one person at a time. However, unlike its predecessor, which has been made for Nintendo DS, Trauma Center: Second Opinion makes it more convenient for you to change your tools on the dot, using your nunchuk in selecting the items. You can also discover more healing powers and techniques of Dr. Stiles that you wish the anime world doesn't have to be left fabricated.

Monster Trucks on the Loose

If you're in for non-stop hard-core action, then fasten your seatbelts and get ready for one hell of a ride aboard monster trucks. Excite Truck of Monster Games takes you to different twists and turns of a very enthralling racing series that you won't probably have time to catch your breath. Despite the complexity, however, techniques are never difficult. In fact, there's practically no need to use your nunchuk.

Beat the Rabbids

Not all rabbits are nice and furry. Take, for example, the Rabbids. Rayman takes you on different kinds of adventure, which tries to mix great storyline with fantastic minigames. If you are like me, your trustworthy Xbox has let you down and glares at you with its red eyes.Luckily, there are temporary fixes that will get you going for another week or so.Here we I will discuss the towel trick and another last resort trick in the tips section.

Find an Xbox 360 (preferably your own) with red lights blinking.Remove any disc, hard drive,AV cables, Ethernet cable and USB cables.Keep the power supply intact.Get 2-3 medium size towels.

First, wrap one towel horizontally around the Xbox as if it were standing, covering the fans and disc tray. Then wrap another around the top where the hard drive is located and the bottom vents. Repeat as deemed necessary.Once fully covered, turn on the Xbox. (It will be hard to find the button at first, but make sure you DO NOT press the disc tray button.Keep it on for 30 minutes to one hour (SEE: Tips)Once you think its done, turn it off and unwrap towels.

This is the tricky part, you have to decide whether to turn it on immediately or let it cool down first. Either way WILL WORK, but not both.I try to turn it on right away.If you choose to turn it on immediately and receive the red lights again, wait for 15-20 minutes and turn it on again. If you still get the red lights, start all over again. When done correctly, you may turn on your Xbox and get pwned in Halo 3 for about one to two weeks.

Tips - More towels the better!

Depending on the season (i.e. summer, winter) you may have to heat it longer more or less.I find that the Xbox will last much less during the winter (1-3 days),DONT LEAVE IT ON FOREVER! But,the longer you leave it on,the better chance it will work. Dont keep your Xbox near an open window, direct sunlight or a AC vent.Play at least once a day for one hour to keep the GPU connected to the motherboard. If it didnt work the first time, stand it up, slap the bottom side (as if horizontal) 2-3 time and turn it on.Keep a fire extinguisher handy. I guaranteed temporary fix is to leave it on until it automatically shuts off the fans. You can tell if this happened if only two lights are blinking.

ALTERNATIVE - I have tried this myself, and it works SOMETIMES:unplug power supply from Xbox and outlet.Wait 3 hours, plug back in and get pwned in Halo 3.

Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/computer-games-articles/is-it-possible-to-fix-the-red-ring-of-death-for-xbox-360-328249.html
